PhD project Title:
Optimization and application of evidence-based medicine approaches for the evaluation of advanced therapies and hi-tech medical devices
Abstract of the PhD project:
Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is defined as “the use of the highest quality evidence in making decisions about the patient care”. It is a combination of principles and methods in which results of clinical trials and real-world data are analyzed with specific methodological approaches to provide new and solid evidence. The aim of my research project is to evaluate and compare the effectiveness, safety and cost-benefit ratio of drugs and hi-tech medical devices through the analysis of clinical and real-world data. This could clarify some conflicting issues in the prescription and/or use of drugs/medical devices, thus supporting healthcare systems in medical decisions.
