PhD project Title:

Identification of molecules and pharmacological targets for the cardiovascular and metabolic modulation

Abstract of the PhD project:

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the most common cause of mortality worldwide and metabolic syndrome, obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension and atherosclerosis represent the main risk factors. Researchers are investigating novel strategies to prevent cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, exploring new target or bioactive molecules. My research project aims to study new compounds or nutritional substances that may have protective effects on the cardiovascular system, representing new promising approaches for reducing CVD risk factors and comorbidities. In particular, the pharmacological effects of new auspicious candidates will be evaluated through both in vivo and in vitro assays, using cell lines, isolated organs or in vivo models of chronic or acute disorders.
