PhD project Title:

Set up and evaluation of tissue-selective nanocarriers bioconjugated with specific ligands for therapeutic and diagnostic applications

Abstract of the PhD project:

A nanocarrier is a nanostructured vehicle purposed to transport drugs to the targeted sites in the body, thus it represents a very innovative drug delivery system. The main characteristic of nanocarriers is their small size, which allows them to reach otherwise inaccessible sites like tumor cells or inflamed tissues. The innovation of this kind of therapy is that it could allow to minimize the side effects and to enhance the drug activity if compared with free drugs. So, the main objective of this research project is to develop an optimal synthetic process for the realization of drug-loaded nanocarriers which will be evaluated for their biological action on specific targets.
