PhD project Title:
Development of novel strategies to tackle multidrug-resistant pathogens
Abstract of the PhD project:
To date, bacterial infections represent a major challenge to sanitary and health globally. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that infections and minor injuries will become a major cause of mortality in the coming years. This emergency is mainly related to the high incidence of infections contracted in hospital or extra-hospital care. Moreover, these infections are difficult to treat because many microorganisms have developed multi-drug resistance (MDR) to classical antibiotics. In the light of the above, the aim of my research project is to design and synthesise new compounds with a novel mechanism of action to circumvent the MDR phenomenon.
